My great grandfather was William Fling (love that name) MacKenzie and was married to Mary E. (McCormick) MacKenzie. They were born in 1846 and 1854 respectively in Blackville, New Brunswick. Unfortunately they both died young and left the family orphans (sounds like a Dicken's tale). My grandfather was John Perley MacKenzie and he married Alice Gertrude McCauley from Fairville, St. John, New Brunswick. His siblings were as follows: James Albert, William Fling, Minnie Ida (Preston), Ella (macrae), Elizabeth Lillian May (Stickney/Barstow). They were all born in Blackville, New Brunswick. After getting married my grandfather and family moved to Woodland, ME. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

My mothers maiden name is MacKenzie as far back as I can tell my family moved from Scotland to Canada quite awhile ago, If you have any informtion on the Canadian side of the MacKenzie clan please e-mail me it would be greatly apreciated. Isn't it funny that after so many years of being in a different country that the given names used by members of the MacKenzie clan are still John, Alexander , William , Mackie. My grandfathers name is William Mackie Mackenzie and his fathers name was Alexander Mackenzie I have uncles Colin and Russell as well.

Thanks for the web page, it was exciting to see that much info on all of the members of the Clan. I'm researching info on any McKinzie's from around Darlington County S.C. around or before 1792. I am frustrated in my efforts to trace anyone from "across the pond". If there is anyone out there who thinks they might have shared roots, send me some E-mail and we'll sort it out.

Hi, The Mckenzie line before me is somewhat opaque. My paternal grand- father whom I never met, lived for a while in the Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK area back in the early to mid 1930's. I believe he died during the early part of the 2nd world war through illness at ca. 40 years old. Seeing how many of us there are has given me food for thought to give some clarity to my children's heritage.

I take it to be a privilege and a pleasure to sign this web page. I am looking for information on my late father, Hector Campbell Frazer McKenzie, believed to have been born in 1897 on the Isle of Skye. His father was also Hector Campbell Frazer McKenzie, who was a gamekeeper and he drowned at sea between the years 1902 - 1905. I believe his mother's name was Sheila Frazer and she died when my father was eleven years old. My father was then placed in an orphanage, possibly in Glascow. At age fifteen he joined the Merchant Navy and spent most of his adult life with the Service as a cook. He died in November 1949 at the age of fifty-two while working for Ford Naval Aerodrome in Sussex, England. My deceased mother informed me that my father was unable to obtain his birth certificate. The only documents I have relating to my father are his marriage certificate and his Merchant Navy discharge papers. I would be most grateful to any person or persons who could provide any additional information about my father or his parents. My colleague [Andrej Kozma] - e-mail address >>> akozma@total.net will relay any and all e-mail to me.

I was just checking back in after some time. I need to up date anyway. I found my Henry Buren McKenzie born in Rico, GA 1898 to John Edgar (NOT Edmond like I thought previously) McKenzie and Lucinda Demonia. I was given info on the Demonia line from that area but still at a loss for the parents of John Edgar McKenzie b. 1876 Houston County GA. Any information is greatly appreciated. Also, those wanting to keep up with what is going on with the active McKenzie newsgroup subscribe to Clan-MacKenzie-L@rootsweb.com ALSO, the Clan MacKenzie Society Newsletter comes out to its members. They are putting together a genealogy tree and everyone is welcome to submit their family so it will all be together and easier for us to find our ancestors and trace our line. I saw it mentioned but will mention it again. For $15.00 you can join at 4522 Bond Lane Oviedo, FL 32765-9600. We are already making plans to visit the family clan castle, Castle Leod, and participate in the Parliament of 2000 in Strathpeffer, Scotland August 2000. Start saving pennies now and make this the best gathering of our clan yet. The challenge was presented to beat the Fergeson clan gathering of 40,000. Surely we can get more McKenzies than that to gather at such a momentous occassion. See you there in 2000 Pamela McKenzie Carroll

McKenzie, but he went by "Dick", and he married Ruby Wagner. I'm going to talk to my father tomorrow about all of the information he can remember. I wish I'd done the same when Grandpa was still around. Don't make the same mistake, folks! Sit down and pick your elders' heads. I'll post more info. as I get it, and maybe I can help someone out in the process. That would be great....Rick

I've heard the spellings of MacKenzie/McKenzie/McKinzie changed when someone was trying to hide their identity. What are other reasons for the differences when we know there is a common ancestry. My cousin, Bruce McKinzie(CeltHero@aol.com) has done some geneology on our name but not sure what all he has found.

Very nice web page! I am trying to research the DWYER surname for my grandmother who will be 90 yrs old next month. She is in bad health and wanted to know something about her grandfather, James Dwyer who was born in Illinois around 1851 or 1852. All we know is that his mother's name was Margaret, who was born in Ireland about 1806.

Surfing your page. Great! I am looking for info for my grandfather's 100th birthday in October. His lineage starts with him (Ferd), his father Lloyd, to George, to Joshua, and then John (of which, I can assume from reading there are many!) who was a drummer boy in the Revolutionary War (at least that's what Grandpa says). I am very new at this! Thanks for your site.

My Grandfather was Alexander McKenzie, born in Aberdeenshire Scotland. He came to Canada in the early 1900's and eventually settled in Goodwater Saskatchewan (near Weyburn Saskatchewan). He farmed and raised sheep and cattle there. The family farm is currently run by my Uncle Donald Mckenzie and his sons John and Graham. The farm has always been called Lomond Range. My mother, father (now deceased) and I lived in Scotland in the early 1970's and were able to visit where we believe my grandfather was born. A small settlement in the Scottish Highlands - Aberdeenshire, call Locheal Cushne (this spelling is probably incorrect). My mother and aunts have much more knowledge of my grandfather's family history than I, so if anyone out there is interested, I will do my best to attain it. I just had to make a comment immediately upon discovering this wonderful destination on the internet. The world really is not so large afterall is it.

My grandmother was Flora Bell McKenzie from Reserve Mine, Cape Breton. She had many siblings, including Mary Ann, Flora Ann, Harriet, William, Daniel, Charles, Steven & Fred. Their parents were Donald John McKenzie, whose parents were from somewhere in the Scottish Highlands, and Flora McDonald, whose parents were also born in Nova Scotia, but her grand- parents or great grandparents came from Lochmaddie, North Uist, off the Isle of Skye in Scotland sometime in the 1700s. If you think you con- nect, please e-mail me. Thank you.

Fun Pages! I take it that you have either a maternal or paternal link to the Breese family? I just started flippin' through your pages, so I haven't seen that info yet. Charles seems to be a popular name in the Breese family: four paternal links above me are all Charles, but one wasn't a middle 'Reagan', thus the 'III'. I'm greatly enjoying your awesome pages! Thanks.

I am also interested in researching my family tree. I have my McKenzie ancestry traced to the 1700's to Virginia. It goes in this order beginning with me: Phillip McKenzie, Clyde McKenzie, Nathan Asbury McKenzie, Martin B. McKenzie (a Corporal in the Union Army during the Civil War),etc. I'll have to double check on the last two names.

I think that you have done a really good job on your site. I came here looking for info on my great grandfather David Calvin McKenzie. I have been doing research on and off for some time and have managed to find out that he enlisted in the Confederate army in Texas and then after the war returned to North West Arkansas and went back to farming. I plan to bring some of the other stuff I have managed to find out about him when next I come to the computer lab.

Hi! My family from the south is McKinzie! My great-grandmother, whom just passed away last summer, is, maiden name, Gladys McKinzie. She is from Alabama, as were the rest of her family for a long time. Her parents, I don't know the names, but will get them soon, were born and died in Alabama. We still have family there. Granny, as we called her, was about 80 or so at death, probably a little over. She had 3 children, Joseph, Frances (my grandmother) Ross, and Mary. Anyone with links to the McKinzies' from Alabama, I would love to hear from you! Francy zxzdragon@earthlink.net

Just surfed in hoping to find a connection to my Hagan Family. Rumor has it some family went to Kentucky. I am trying to find the connect- ion to my grandmother Catherine Hagan who lived in NYC then Woodside area of Queens. Was always told Bishop John Hagan in Cleveland my uncle, remember seeing bible he gave to my father with his signiture in it. Since Lost. Also suppose to be a connection to Father Joseph D. Hagan from Pittsburg. Bishop John Hagan born in Pittsburg then moved to Cleveland at age 3. Ring any bells?

I am research my roots. I am Jackson on both sides: my father's side of course and maternal grandmother was a Jackson. I am also trying to find the relationship to Helen Jackson Breese. She is buried in a Jackson family plot in Maple Grove cemetery in Horseheads, NY. I have a photo of a historical marker in Horseheads erected by the Breese Family Association to mark where John Brees (sic) settled in 1790-something. He was a soldier in the Sullivan Expedition during the War for Independence that went up the Susquehana River. He and several other former soldiers relocated to Chemung County vicinity after the war. He was originally from New Jersey.
